01OSINT only
Mephit exclusively queries open-source, publicly accessible data. It does not intrude into private systems, bypass authentication, or perform active exploitation. Every result it returns originated on a public-facing source: a search engine, a certificate-transparency log, a threat-intel feed, a paste site, a breach disclosure, an internet-wide scanner, or a similar provider.
02No warranty of accuracy
Mephit surfaces what third-party sources publish. Those sources can be stale, partial, mislabeled, planted, or outright wrong. The AI layer can also misinterpret or fabricate details. Treat every output as a lead, not a verdict — verify with primary sources before acting.
03Not professional advice
Nothing produced by Mephit constitutes legal, medical, financial, or licensed-professional advice. If you need a binding opinion, consult a qualified professional in the relevant field and jurisdiction.
04Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for:
- Ensuring you have lawful authority to investigate the targets you query.
- Complying with applicable data-protection law (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) for any personal data you obtain through Mephit.
- Independently verifying findings before relying on them in reporting, prosecution, business decisions, or public disclosure.
- Treating Mephit output as privileged or sensitive where the underlying investigation requires it.
05We assume no liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mephit and its operators are not liable for:
- The content, accuracy, or legality of data returned by third-party sources.
- Decisions, actions, reports, or operations you base on Mephit output.
- Loss, damage, regulatory penalty, or reputational harm arising from your use or misuse of the Service.
- Service downtime, latency, or third-party API failures.
The full liability framework is in our Terms of Service §10.
06A note on ethics
Mephitis a sharp tool. It is built on the assumption that the person holding it understands operational ethics, chain of custody, and the difference between investigation and intrusion. If you aren’t sure whether a query is appropriate, don’t run it until you have written authorization or a clear lawful basis.
